Applying for more Grants

We have nearly delivered all the kits from the Community Benefit Gambling Fund and have met some wonderful Greyhounds (and their families).
Please continue to send in applications so we can keep you on file as we are waiting to see if we are successful again.

In addition to the CBGF, we have also applied to the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission for their round of Welfare grants. (QRIC RAW Grants)

  1. To provide assistance for those that have required extensive dental work, or other additional expenses not covered in the Greyhound Retirement Readiness Scheme (GRRS). While this scheme is very welcome, during this initial stage there are many instances where the claim has been denied for various reasons, or simply does not cover standard costs charged by some veterinarian clinics.
  2. To give financial assistance for expenses not covered under the Race Management Injury Scheme. This scheme has been available for some time, however we are experiencing some gaps that are not included in the scheme. Items that are not listed as eligible or for costs under $1,000.
  3. The third application is for post industry costs for the senior care of Greyhounds. This includes Senior dental work, or elderly related illness ages 6 and above, which can include Seizure medications. We want to eventually expand on the focus with senior greyhound care. This topic has very little documentation and discussions outside of the general “Canine Care”. During care package deliveries we came into contact with older greys and greys that are currently experiencing expensive health treatments. Retired Greys Inc. has identified this post industry issue and our long term plan is to better understand these issues for the benefit of healthier longevity for Greyhound Seniors. We want to care for Greyhounds beyond the immediate retirement from the track.

The QRIC RAW Grant applications must include a current public liability insurance indemnity of $20M. With the help of wonderful donations we have scraped enough to purchase this policy for the 2022/2023 year.

We are unsure of our success with these three grants until later in the year, however we will keep everyone updated with our progress.

  1. Hi there. We very much appreciated the fantastic welcome pack for Gracie we received earlier in the year. Just wondering where you buy the working dog kibble as Gracie and our little Maltese Max have nearly polished off the whole bag and I would like to buy one. Thank you once again. Jill
