Good Dental can be Easy

The costs of any dental work by the vet can be very costly.

Some dogs will happily grind away on large bones which scrapes the scale off the teeth. Other’s will not, it’s just the preference of each dog. Scale buildup is easy to overlook as owners may not be sure what to look for. The following is an extreme case of scale build up for reference.

This can come off with a bone, or a visit to the vet. We advise to consult and get a quote from your vet first.

While this photo can be shocking, this is easily preventable with crunchy kibble and a tooth brush every now and then.

To assist with dental hygiene, Retired Greys Inc. is please to announce that we have procured 100 toothbrush/toothpaste packs to give away. We will include one with every purchase, or come and see us at our next pop-up store to grab one.

To use a toothbrush is easy and as your pooch becomes used to the idea it can be very quick.
Use a very small amount of toothpaste, just a tiny drop, and start on each side. Lift up the cheeks and quickly run the brush over the teeth. Then do the other side, with special attention to the top of the canines. The front teeth can be sensitive and your dog may not be used to the pressure at first. If you experience some blood from the gums don’t worry, this happens with humans as well.
Below is a picture of a 4 year old Greyhound’s teeth. Please compare the gums from from both photo’s.

Your first few times may not seem like you have achieved anything, but make it fun and do a little bit more each time.

If you have any questions, please come and see us at our next pop-up store.
